QWEL (English) - SMSWP Marin County, CA - In-Person

     Register today for this FREE English QWEL certification training course sponsored by Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership and hosted by Marin Water.

 

The QWEL training will be taught in English and facilitated in-person by one of our highly rated QWEL certified instructors and is available to professionals conducting work in Marin County, Sonoma County, and Bay Area.

Space is limited. Registration closes on 02/20/2026 or when class is full.

The in-person classes will cover all sections of the QWEL reference manual. This includes topics on:

  • Sustainable landscape design principles,
  • Soil properties and health,
  • Plant water needs,
  • Overhead spray irrigation system audits,
  • Irrigation system troubleshooting and maintenance, and
  • Irrigation system programming and operation.

QWEL Reference Manual will be available on loan for each student to use for the duration of the training and returned after the exam is complete. Attendees can also choose to purchase a physical copy of the QWEL Reference Manual here or download a PDF copy of the QWEL Reference Manual for free here.

In order to obtain QWEL certification, individuals must complete an irrigation audit (covered in class) and pass the QWEL exam. The QWEL exam will be administered in-person on March 25th.

Additional details will be provided prior to the class after you register. 

Those who earn their QWEL certification will be listed as a Certified Professional on the QWEL and U.S. EPA WaterSense websites.

  • Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Exam Day: Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

There will be a 30-minute lunch break. Lunch will be provided by Marin Water.

Since the launch of his independent eco-landscape contracting firm in 2011, Christopher Reamer has worked extensively throughout California at the cutting edge of landscape water conservation. Awarded the "Water Awareness of the Year” award in 2013 from the City of Santa Rosa for extensive work with the development of greywater, rainwater and high-efficiency irrigation systems, Chris has instructed over 40 landscape water conservation trainings in both English and Spanish, installed over 60 greywater irrigation systems and numerous water efficient landscapes for diverse clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
