QWEL (English) - CalWEP Members - Online Class (Afternoons)

CalWEP is excited to host online QWEL training exclusively for employees of our member organizations. Not sure if your organization is a member? Contact Michael@calwep.org

This 20-hour training, divided into eight 2.5-hour Zoom sessions, and taught by one or our highly rated QWEL instructors will cover content from the QWEL Reference Manual recently revamped in 2018. Specific topics covered include:

  1. Where Our Water Comes From
  2. Sustainable Landscaping
  3. Soils
  4. Landscape Water
  5. Irrigation Systems
  6. Irrigation Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  7. Irrigation Auditing
  8. Irrigation Scheduling
  9. Irrigation Controllers

Cost: $250 (includes exam fee and a paper copy of the QWEL Reference Manual)

In order to obtain QWEL certification, individuals must complete a virtual irrigation audit (covered in class) and pass the QWEL exam with a score of 75 or higher. Exams will be administered online in three-hour windows beginning the week of Sep. 27th. The exam is open-book.

CalWEP has helped certify hundreds of water conservation and landscape professionals and maintains an average exam pass rate above 90%! Those who earn their QWEL certification will be listed as a Certified Professional on the QWEL and U.S. EPA WaterSense websites and are certified to conduct irrigation system audits for overhead spray.

Space is limited so we encourage you to register as soon as possible. Registration is a three-step process:

  3. Register on Zoom to attend the sessions. (Once you complete Step 2, you will be automatically redirected to the Zoom page.)

SCHEDULE DETAILS

The QWEL Online training will be offered in 2.5-hour AFTERNOON sessions for two weeks Monday to Thursday beginning Monday, September 13th from 1:00 – 3:30 PM (see schedule details below). By registering for this class, you affirm that you and are committing to attend all eight sessions for a total of 20 hours of instruction.

The QWEL exam will be offered the week of September 27th.


PRESENTER: Lori Palmquist

Lori is an irrigation specialist who has worked in the landscape trade for 30 years. She is an irrigation designer, consultant, and educator, and a former irrigation contractor and water manager. She has designed, installed, assessed, repaired, upgraded, and managed hundreds of irrigation systems over the years, and brings a boatload of passion and irrigation geekery to all her professional endeavors.
